The turning point
Limited to 5 hectares by animal draught power and unreliable hired tractors, Harriet and her husband Mr Kalinda leased a 75HP tractor through AgLeaseCo in 2021 — giving them the control to expand progressively, season after season.
Expanding the fleet
"Without AgLeaseCo, it would have been difficult for us to acquire all this equipment and achieve what we have achieved."

Planting On Time, Every Season

The challenge: timeliness
Before mechanisation, Moses relied on hired land-preparation services that were often delayed, pushing his planting later each season. Late planting meant crops matured after the rains had stopped, cutting yields. Switching to animal draught power didn't solve it either — it only let him farm a smaller area. Across 2023–2025, gross earnings stayed under ZMW 450,000 a year.
The solution
Moses heard about AgLeaseCo through a friend in his chiefdom who had already leased a tractor. He applied for a Lovol 35Hp tractor with a disc plough, supplied by Camco — enabling faster, more reliable land preparation and on-schedule planting.
"Getting the tractor has helped me plant on time and stop wasting money and seasons. I'm happy because now my yields are improving and my farm income is much stronger."
— Moses Muke
What's next
Moses plans to keep expanding his planting area, maintain his improved yields, and grow a diversified mix of maize, soya beans, and tomatoes. He's also an advocate for more flexible repayment options — he'd prefer annual payments over quarterly ones, to better match his seasonal cash flow.
